Satellite Television Service for the Consumer

The post war era had a lot of technological breakthroughs. Instead of listening to the radio to get the news, people can now watch it in the comforts of home. This is the birth of the television where images are filtered in cathode ray rubes bringing pictures to life.

The early years of television only had a few channels. These sets came with "rabbit ears" which served as the antenna to receive signals that were attached to the top. Whenever the signal gets disrupted, someone will have to stand up and make some adjustments to make the images clearer again.

Decades later, engineers found a better way and the use of antennas became obsolete. This was the age of cable television where people get digital images in the comforts of home.

There are more than a hundred channels around the world and those who are bored with things featured on the local scene can try something bigger and better which is what satellite service can offer to the consumer.

According to a consumer survey, this is easily accessible in the United States today. Those who want it don't have to wait for the cable company to start wiring up the neighborhood. The only thing the customer needs is a satellite dish installed in the home and start enjoying shows from all over the world.

Satellite service promises to give more value for money since it offers more than 200 channels to choose from which can compete against any cable company out there in the market. The subscription fee is very affordable and people get to watch shows without being interrupted by commercials.

At present, there are only two companies in the United States that do this namely DISH Network and DIRECTV. The consumer can approach the company directly.

Since not all places are covered by these companies, there are vendors who represent these companies that sell the service to the consumer. DISH has Allsat while DIRECTV uses iSatellite. The difference of going through agents is that the person will have to pay a little more for the equipment that is leased.

The satellite television service can easily be installed in the home. The installation for the dish and the other equipment needed to make this work in the home is free. The only thing that the person pays for is the service. These come in affordable packages that cater to those who have a different lifestyle.

The satellite service doesn't only work for the television at home but can also be heard on the radio. The person simply needs a receiver to get these signals making it easy to carry around. This can be plugged in anywhere and within seconds, the user can listen to music of various genres, news or talk shows.
Those who want to go online can also use the same service. This is because the signals for television and radio work the same way. This eliminates the need for cables to be placed all around the house since wireless internet technology has taken cared of that.

Satellite television service continues to grow today. There are more than 20 million subscribers combined in the United States alone and the number is growing. Those that want good value shouldn't look that far anymore for good service since it is right there in one's fingertips.
